Let Them Eat Cake

Dear Ms. Liberty

No longer is Marie Antoinette's response of, "Let them eat cake," applicable. Have you seen the price of cake lately?
Have you heard that Trump Antoinette is replacing the East Wing of the White House with a $200 million ballroom, a gaudy, gilded 90,000‑square‑foot vanity project. Because, after all, Americans need a ballroom that the majority will never see. What's next? A pumpkin carriage?

Additionally, the United States accepted the so-called “free” Qatari jumbo jet, which will cost U.S. taxpayers up to $1 billion to retrofit with security protocols and to remove any "extra little features." Think of the people of Troy who later regretted the gift of the wooden horse.

And have you seen the "new" Rose Garden? Not a blade of grass has been left. When Washington, DC hits those warm summer temps, the concrete "garden" will not be so inviting. When it rains, the water flows into drains shaped like the American flag. Ms. Liberty, can you say "classy?" Yeah, neither can I. 

In the meantime, our most vulnerable American citizens, children and the elderly, will face cuts in healthcare and food programs.
