Our Favorite Governor: Gavin Newsom

 Dear Ms Liberty,

Although I was born, raised, and have retired in the State of Washington, at this time, Gavin Newsom is my favorite governor. And don't get me wrong. I have usually been pleased with our choices of progressive governors in Washington State. Still, this time, the governor of California is taking a stand that all Democratic politicians should be taking. Play offense and less defense, and keep "poking the bear."

Governor Gavin

At this time, the current occupant in the White House is pushing red states like Texas to draw new congressional boundaries (aka gerrymandering) to cinch up MAGAs' odds of keeping the House in the midterms. So the good California governor, along with other Democratic governors, has responded by threatening to draw new maps of their own. However, Gavin has bumped it up a notch and is mocking and trolling Trump's social media. This is where giving a "taste of Trump's own medicine" is appropriate, with tweets written in all-caps, incomplete sentences, name-calling, self-praise, as well as facial images attached to superhero bodies, all traits of Trump's social media presence.

This exercise is making Trump's handlers, his followers, and the gang at Fox News cry foul. The irony is that they're too quick to point out the poor internet manners of typing in all caps. A bunch of "snowflakes." To which Governor Gavin responds,

"I'm following the president's example. If you've got issues with what I'm putting out, you should have concerns about what he's putting out as president."

Overall, it's been a lot of fun with much-needed laughter. A few Democrats are finally stepping up, and MAGAs are stamping their tiny feet in protest.  And who knows, we may be looking at a future Democratic presidential candidate.

A couple of days ago, Heather Cox Richardson, Professor of History and American Historian, interviewed Governor Gavin on her YouTube podcast. One can't help but notice the twinkle in HCR's eyes when the good Governor spoke.

And I bet he smells good, too.

Later Ms. Liberty.

Love, C~

  1. What i appreciated about HCR's keeping him on track. He starts talking and veers off, losing the thread, and she kept bringing him back.
